|A parcel of land on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community between Loop 101 and the Scottsdale city limits will be home to a massive commercial project, part of the Indian community’s plan to develop land near the freeway.
Called the Pima Center, the project was announced Monday and eventually will include 4 million square feet of hotel, retail, office, industrial, and other commercial development. Initial development is expected to begin early next year.
A partnership between MainSpring Capital Group, a Valley-based commercial developer, and Indian community landowners resulted in a lease of 209 acres north of Via de Ventura between Loop 101 and Pima Road.
In comparison, the nearby Casino Arizona at Loop 101 and McKellips Road is 60 acres. The Pima Center is expected to be completed in eight to 10 years.
